Cervical erosion: what is it and what is dangerous?

Cervical erosion conceals threats that every woman needs to be aware of. This gynecological disease, which occupies one of the first places in the world. Statistics show that half of women on the planet face it. But not all of them know about it.
What is cervical erosion, and what are the types of illness?
The disease is a violation of the integrity of the mucous membrane around the external osmosis of the cervix. These disorders are ulcers.

Medical science distinguishes between two types of disease: true and false erosion. The first type is the area of the mucous membrane that has been damaged. Over time, it covers the cylindrical epithelium. The latter is distributed from the cervix. Epithelial cells gradually seize new territories, but this does not stop their activities. They begin to grow into the damaged area of the mucous membrane, penetrating deeper into the cervix. This phenomenon is called false erosion.

False erosion is a dangerous phenomenon, as erosion glands appear over time in this place. They constantly secrete a secret, while rejecting the squamous epithelium, which is formed. As a result – expressions of a more extensive nature, which are capable of bleeding. Although this is not necessary, sometimes false erosion of the cervix does not manifest itself. For many years, the disease can proceed with a hidden character.

But here another, much more dangerous situation arises – the risk of developing a malignant tumor. Gynecologists believe it is the erosion of the cervix the main risk factor for the formation of a malignant tumor of this organ.
Why does erosion occur?
Several factors can trigger the disease. Namely:
Mechanical injuries that may occur during reckless sexual intercourse, abortion or childbirth;
Wrong work of hormones, which is manifested by a decrease in the amount of estrogen and a sharp increase in the level of estradiol and progesterone. All this provokes the destruction of the uterine epithelium and the appearance of ulcers on the mucous of her cervix;
Inflammatory processes in the vagina that are chronic. They can be caused by chlamydia, mycoplasma, trichomonads and other bacterial infections. As well as viruses such as herpes and papillomavirus, etc.
Why does erosion proceed without symptoms?
The cervix is the transition between the vagina and the uterus itself. In this place there are practically no nerve endings. Therefore, the inflammatory and other processes occurring in this place do not bring the sensation of pain. There can be no manifestations not only in erosion, but also in dysplasia and even cervical cancer. Therefore, this disease is often detected almost by chance, during a routine or routine examination by a doctor.
What tests are needed for diagnosis?
The doctor reveals the presence of erosion directly on examination with the help of ordinary gynecological equipment. But to estimate how deep the uterine epithelium is damaged is possible only with the help of special analyzes, such as:
Cytological and bacteriological examination to identify microorganisms that provoked the disease;
A blood test to analyze the state of hormones in order to exclude the cause of the development of the disease due to hormonal background;
Colposcopy for a detailed study of the depth of damage to epithelial cells and damage structure;
Biopsy is needed in cases where there is a suspicion that the epithelial cells are reborn. With the help of this study, doctors can find out in which cells the epithelium has reborn – benign or malignant.
Effective disease prevention is a timely visit to the doctor, even if you are not worried about any complaints. As well as fair treatment and the implementation of the recommendations of the doctor.
